90° angle[]
• To rotate the Fence in a 90° angle to the neighboring segment, the fence must be rotated by 18
ticks.
• As a guide to correct placement, one can place a ghost Foundation at the end of the fence so that one side aligns with the existing fence and then put the 90° fence segment along the other edge of the foundation. When the fence has been placed at the correct angle, the ghost foundation can be deleted.
Meat in winter[]
Willixx had a good idea to get meat in the Winter months, when the game spawns less:
Go to the Swamp, craft a few Drying Racks and a Butcher Table. Kill Crocodiles till the food backpack is full. Dry the meat on the racks.
A bit of a nuisance with all the running but.. hey.. better than starve to death.. ;-)
Animal trap[]
Build a circle or square of Spike Traps with the spikes looking in.
Game will get into the area, but won't be able to get out. Now it is easy to kill them.
The larger the enclosed area is, the more likely it is to trap an animal.
Getting away from predators/Vambies[]
If you jump on a Storage Container that is on a Log Cart or run into a lake, they can't reach you.
Be careful with the water, because Vambies can follow you in sometimes, but they sink to the bottom (and because of their mutation they can breath under water).
Jumping on a Container on a Cart doesn't work any longer, as of v12.0
Crate underneath the Butcher Table[]
KJ PC Gaming has this tip:
It is possible to a Storage Container underneath the Butcher Table. A good and easy place to store your food, Animal Hide and Bone.
Ultra Wide Monitor[]
If you have an ultra wide monitor, set the game to a 16:9 resolution (like 1920 x 1080) and 'windowed' mode. It leaves a gap either side of the game but avoids the stretching of the screen.
Avoid losing track of an animal you killed[]
To avoid this, shoot an arrow near the carcass, go grab your cart, then return to the arrow.
Don’t get lost[]
If you have a hard time finding your base, create an extra Log Cart and leave it at the base. It will show up on the Map and you can do this also for the small heating cabins (that you create yourself) during winter.
You don't even have to finish the cart for the marker to show on the map.
Builder`s rule of three[]
Game`s heat sources all have the same radius of three foundations from the one they are placed on. For the sake of convenience and maximizing the available heated space, a square of five by five is a good foundation for the base. Campfire, forges, stove and heater obviously go in the center. Same rule applies vertically - up to two levels above and below the heating source will receive heating benefits. The absolute most bang for the buck is a cube five by five by five as far as heating concerns go.
