The Storage Container is a basic chest for storing any items that players can carry in their Inventory. There are 40 1x1 storage spaces in the Storage Container. The Storage Container has a nominal durability of 50, but it is not attacked and damaged by mobs.
These containers can be placed indoors or outdoors, and they can be stacked. The direction in which the containers face has no affect on their functionality, but visually they have a latch on the front side in the top center that is missing in the back.
Up to two Storage Containers can be placed on a Log Cart for transportation. The Storage Containers must be crafted before they are lifted onto the cart. Storage Containers can also be stored themselves in special Chest Racks that have slots to hold up to 6 Storage Containers.
Storage Containers can be conveniently labeled by the player. To label a Storage Container, activate it with with E and enter the label text in the text box at the top of the container's user interface. The label will appear on both the front and back sides of the container.
The player can remove the entire contents of a Storage Container at once by selecting the "Take All" button which appears in the shape of an arrow with a tooltip. If there is not room in the Inventory for all the items, some items will remain in the Storage Container.
To transfer a stack of items (e.g. a stack of 10 Sand) or a single non-stacked item (e.g. one unit of Sand standing alone) from the Inventory to the Storage Container and vice versa, use ⇧ Left Shift + 
.
To transfer a single non-stacked item (e.g. one unit of Sand standing alone) or a single item from a stack of items (e.g. one unit of Sand from a stack of 10 Sand), use Left Alt + .
Items placed in a Storage Container will not be removed by a friendly NPC and a friendly NPC will not deposit items in a Storage Container. Instead, a friendly NPC will only use the similar looking NPC Storage Container.
