The Stone Spear is an early game weapon and it will usually be the first weapon that a new player crafts. It can be used as a stabbing melee weapon or as a thrown ranged weapon. The stone spear's durability will degrade upon each use and cannot be repaired.
To use the Stone Spear the player must first equip it by pressing the number on the keyboard that corresponds to the tools/weapons slot that the Stone Spear occupies in the player's Inventory. To stab with the equipped Stone Spear the player must press 
. To throw the Stone Spear, the player must press and hold Left Ctrl+
to lift and aim the spear, and then press to hurl it. The Stone Spear has no drop when thrown, so the player should aim directly at the target.
The Stone Spear is the simplest spear that the player can craft. Other spear versions are the Bone Spear and the Steel Spear.
