Oil Extractor
Oil Extractor 2

The Oil Extractor is a device for producing Oil Cans that are used to power other devices in the game. It converts 1 oil shale to one can. Before players can craft the Oil Extractor, they must first find the associated Technology Blueprint.

The Oil Extractor must be placed on the ground and it requires 100 units of Power to run. The production of Oil Cans pauses when the player sleeps, but power usage continues.

Like other power-consuming devices, the Oil Extractor must be wired either directly or indirectly (by means of an Electrical Relay) from a Junction Box which in turn must be wired from a Control Panel in order to use available Power. The Oil Extractor can be powered on or off by turning its Junction Box on or off in any Control Panel.

When activated (default key E), the user interface of the powered Oil Extractor displays the time until the next Oil Can is extracted, and it has a receptacle that holds the Oil Cans already produced. Players can drag the Oil Cans into their Inventory.

The Oil Extractor produces one Oil Can every 4 minutes and it can hold a maximum of 100 Oil Cans, but continues to use power even if the Oil Can receptacle is already full.

The recipe for the Oil Extractor is found in the Placeables section of the Build Menu under Others.
