Mike

NPC Mike is an NPC who can join the player as an ally. Mike can be found in an injured condition in one of two locations (see spoiler further below). The player can carry Mike back to the player's base or transport Mike by Truck, ATV or by Log Cart.

At the player's base, Mike will require an NPC House and a Town Hall. The NPC House contains a bed in which Mike can be placed until he is healed with an Antibiotic. After he is healed, the bed can be used to recall Mike to his NPC House by pointing the cursor at the bed and pressing E (default).

When healed, Mike will leave the bed and search for food in the Town Hall. Mike has a hunger bar that displays his current hunger level. A level of 100 indicates that Mike is full. The Town Hall should contain at least one NPC Storage Container with food for Mike to eat.

Assigning Tasks to Mike[]

When Mike is no longer hungry, he will attempt to perform tasks that the player can assign to him in a work priority list. He will not carry out certain tasks if there is no path to his destination. In the NPC House there is a whiteboard that can be activated with the E key (default), and the player can prioritize up to three tasks for Mike to perform.

If the player assigns the task "Replenish log stands" to Mike, he will chop down trees and carry Wood Logs to nearby Log Stands. He will also pick up logs that are lying on the ground and store them in Log Stands.

If the player assigns the task "Take care of plant beds" to Mike, he will harvest, plant and water crops that the player has planted in Plant Beds. Mike will store the harvested crops in available NPC Storage Containers that the player must place in the Town Hall. He will help himself to the food when he is hungry. Mike will store whole Watermelons and Pumpkins that he harvests in available Watermelon Crates and Pumpkin Crates. Mike will use such crates that are inside or outside of the Town Hall building for this purpose. Mike can harvest two Onions from one Onion plant.

If the player assigns the task "Repair stuff" to Mike, he will repair construction components (e.g. fences, foundations, etc.) with Repair Kits that are stored in the Town Hall building in an NPC Storage Container.

If the player assigns the task "Replenish Stone Crates" to Mike, he will mine Small Stones from boulders within a certain large radius (25k Unreal units) and place them in any available Stones Crate that is not already full.

Mike's work is not restricted to the immediate vicinity of his NPC House and Town Hall. For example, if Mike has been assigned the task of filling log stands, he will travel to any far away satellite base that has empty log stands and fill those log stands as well as the log stands where his NPC House is located. The player cannot order Mike to go to any particular location.

The player can assign up to three tasks in any order. It is also possible to assign no tasks.

When Mike becomes hungry he will stop working and wait in the Town Hall for food to be placed in an NPC Storage Container. If Mike is assigned the task to "take care of plant beds" he will refill the container himself with any crops he harvests.

When Mike enters or leaves an enclosed base that is equipped with gates, he will open a closed gate and the gate will shut behind him.

Some players have experienced losing Mike completely and losing the ability to recall Mike to his bed. Hopefully, a bugfix will be available soon. In the meantime, if your Mike happens to disappear and you can no longer summon him back to his bed, you will need to find and rescue him again.

Spoiler: Location of Mike[]

Mike can be found in one of two places.


There are two clusters of industrial buildings that are possible locations for an injured Mike to be discovered. In each location there is an industrial building that contains room dividers creating a niche behind which is a bed. Mike can be found in one of the beds in an injured condition.

One of the locations is in the westernmost "village" on the map. It is in the vertical center of the map at the end of a dead-end road near a river. To the north is a cave and to the south is a cave.

The second possible location is on the eastern coast road in the upper quarter of the map
