Wooden Concrete and Steel Fence

A Fence is a basic barrier that players can build to protect their bases or other structures from attacks by predators and Vambies. Fences can be used in conjunction with the Wooden Gate or the Metal Gate. The most basic craftable version of the fence is the Wooden Fence, which can be upgraded twice for more protection. There is a separate craftable Barbed Wire Fence which has its own Wiki topic.

All fence segments can be moved (default N), lowered/raised with X + scrolling Middle Mouse Button and rotated by scrolling Middle Mouse Button. Fence segments (and ghost images of fence segments when crafting them) snap together in a straight line for ease of placement. If the player wants to place a fence segment at an angle, the segment can be moved away from the neighboring fence segment, rotated, then placed in the desired position. See this tip too.

The recipe for the Wooden Fence is found in the Construction section of the Build Menu under Others.

Tips and Tricks[]

To rotate the fence in a 90° angle to the neighboring segment, the fence must be rotated 18 mouse wheel Middle Mouse Button ticks.
As a guide to correct placement, one can place a ghost foundation at the end of the fence so that one side aligns with the existing fence and then put the 90° fence segment along the other edge of the foundation. When the fence has been placed at the correct angle, the ghost foundation can be deleted.
