The Deer is a species of passive animal that will flee from the player. The Deer can be found roaming the entire Map.
The player can use any weapon to hunt it but a thrown spear (of any type) or an Archer Bow is most effective, because the player will find it difficult to get close to the Deer.
A head shot will kill a Deer outright. Hitting it anywhere else will cause it to flee, and the player will need to chase it and keep it in sight. Eventually the wounded Deer will bleed out and fall down dead.
Harvesting yields[]
A Deer that has been killed must be transported to a Butcher Table to maximize the resources that can be harvested. The player can carry the Deer (which causes the player to be encumbered and walk very slowly) or transport the Deer in a Log Cart or on the back of the Truck. The player can also butcher the Deer in the field, but fewer resources will be harvested.
| Resource | Yield on Butcher Table | Yield in the field |
|---|---|---|
| Raw Meat | 8 | 1 or 2 |
| Raw Liver | 1 | 0 |
| Bone | 6 | 1 or 2 |
| Animal Fat | 2 | 0 |
| Animal Hide | 1 | 0 |

As with other animals, the health stat of the Deer can be customized in the AI section of the game's loading screen settings.
