The Build Menu contains all recipes for construction components and placeable items that do not require any kind of crafting station. Players can access the Build Menu by selecting the Build Menu icon from the Inventory user interface. The Build Menu has two sections:

Section Content
Construction Major Building components (crafted in place)
Placeables Miscellaneous items (crafted in place)

Construction Section[]

When the player accesses the Build Menu, it opens to the Construction Section containing recipes for building components. At the bottom right of the Construction Section the player can toggle the ability of foundations to snap to neighboring foundations on and off.
The Construction Section has the following 8 sub-categories that appear as tabs on the left side of the menu:
 •  Foundations
 •  Walls
 •  Ceilings
 •  Roofs
 •  Stairs
 •  Doors
 •  Railings
 •  Others

Moving the mouse cursor over the image of a component elicits a tool tip that displays the name of the component and the resources that are needed to craft it. To craft a component in the Construction section, the player must click on the image of the component. A ghost image of the component will attach itself to the cursor, and instructions on how to place the ghost image appear in the lower left hand corner of the screen. If the ghost image is red, it cannot be placed where the cursor is pointing. The player must move the ghost image to a different spot until it turns green. Once the ghost image is placed by pressing the Interact Key (by default E), it turns white. Pointing the cursor at a white ghost image makes instructions appear in the lower left hand corner of the screen telling the player what resources need to be added to the ghost image with the Interact Key (by default E) in order to craft it.
