Biofuel is crucial to have in a new game because the player needs to operate Mineral Extractors in order to acquire ore to build advanced technology devices. The alternative fuel, Oil Cans, is freely available only as loot in villages and can be produced only by an Oil Extractor, an advanced technology device which not only requires a Technology Blueprint to craft, but also Power to run. Therefore it is advisable in early game to store excess meat, fruits, vegetables and Raw Fish and let it spoil in order to make Biofuel. The importance of having a large supply of Biofuel diminishes when the player is finally able to build and power an Oil Pump, which automatically fuels Mineral Extractors.
