Empty Barn
Barn User Interface
Available Food (top left) and Information about Livestock
The Barn is a pre-fabricated building in which players can raise Goats and Chickens. It must be placed on a 3x3 foundation and there can only be one Barn on the Map at a time.
A Chicken which has been rendered unconscious by shooting it with a Tranquilizer Arrow can be picked up and carried in the player's Inventory. Activating the Barn with E automatically transfers the captured Chicken to the Barn and the Barn's user interface will display one of the animal slots as being occupied by a Chicken. A Goat which has been rendered unconscious by shooting it with a Tranquilizer Arrow must be transported to the barn and you must pick it up and have it in your arms when you press E to transfer it to the barn.
User Interface[]
In the user interface of the Barn there are 5 stalls for Goats and 5 Stalls for Chickens. If a stall is occupied, a description of the animal will be displayed along with a green bar indicating the health of the animal. Next to the description of the animal there is an icon of an axe which can be clicked on to butcher the animal and an icon with the letter "i" that can be clicked on to reveal more detailed information about the animal. If you decide to butcher an animal that is being kept in the barn, you must equip a Stone Axe or an Iron Axe before activating the user interface of the Barn.
Production and Reproduction[]
Female Goats will produce one bottle of Milk per hour of gameplay. Female Chickens will produce one Egg per hour of gameplay. Both Milk and Eggs that are produced by the livestock are automatically deposited into the Barn's integrated storage container and can be removed from there by the player. Females of both species can also reproduce. Chickens will reproduce Chicks and Goats will reproduce Kids. Chicks and Kids occupy their own slots in the user interface of the Barn and they will gradually grow into adults. For the reproduction of livestock to work, at least one male of the species must be present in the Barn. Additional males are sadly superfluous and can be butchered as described above in the Barn user interface to free up room for females.
Care of Livestock[]
In the upper left there is a food receptacle in which the player can store up to 2,000 units of fruits and vegetables for the livestock to eat. If the food runs out, the green life bar of each animal in the Barn will gradually decrease until the animal dies and disappears. Therefore it is important to keep livestock well fed.
The Butcher Table that is integrated in the Barn is fully functional and can be used to butcher any animal.
The recipe for the Barn is found in the Placeables section of the Build Menu under Others.
